Gaps Crown Vineyard is named after the weather phenomenon known as the Petaluma wind gap. The vineyard faces west to low-lying valleys that roll to the Pacific Ocean. Daily, these valleys fill with coastal fog, slowing the ripening process, creating an inimitable balance of rich flavors, textures and minerality.
Hand-harvested before dawn to ensure cold fruit arrives at the winery, the grapes were hand-sorted and gently destemmed into an open top tank. The skins were held in contact with the wine for 15 days during fermentation, and then drained to 100% French oak barrels. The wine received an additional year of bottle aging before release.

Tasting notes
Fresh-picked raspberries and cherry-spearmint soda aromas float from the glass. Intricate nuances in the nose of cran-apple and orange rind. Fresh and textural on the entry, spiced fruit essences and toasted pastries tease and excite the palate. Strawberry and cranberry flavors mix in a complex balance of acidity and fruit flavors. The unusually long finish reveals different layers of flavors wrapped in a warm blanket of sweet oak.Winemaker Brandon Lapides
