2021 Estate Sauvignon Blanc

$30.00 / 750mL

Club: $22.50 / 750mL

Our Estate vineyard was planted in 1996 alongside the historical Old Redwood Highway just south of the town of Healdsburg. Warm days and cool nights combine with old-riverbed clay soil to produce an ideal growing climate for Sauvignon Blanc. Meticulous farming and minimal irrigation inspire this vineyard to express its full potential of flavors. Two different clones of Sauvignon Blanc are grown here to add increased variation and complexity to the wine Old Wente and Sauvignon Musque clones. There is also an acre of Pinot Gris next to the Sauvignon Blanc that is used in this wines final blend.

The Sauvignon Blanc (85%) and Pinot Gris (15%) were harvested early on a classic foggy Russian River Valley morning and co-fermented together. The grapes were carefully sorted before being gently pressed to release only seventy percent of the amount of potential juice. Most of the juice was cold-fermented in a stainless steel tank while about ten percent was fermented in neutral French Oak. The wine was aged on lees for about four months in both large puncheons and Acacia oak barrels, before being gently fined and filtered for bottling.

Tasting notes

Summertime in a glass! Guava, green melon, cantaloupe, and peach aromas waft from the glass. Subtle hints of gooseberry, mango and pine needles add to the complexity of enticing aromas. The first sip is like taking a fresh bite out of a crisp pear, quickly followed by sweet apricot and green apple flavors. The limey, textured finish is refreshing with just a hint of savory spice, from the very small percentage of the wine fermented in oak. Winemaker Brandon Lapides
